Born and raised in Los Angeles, I grew up eating Tommy’s, Pink’s, and In and Out burger. Healthy meant eating just one double-double burger with fries, coke, and vanilla shake. When I turned 28, I was already taking three blood pressure medications when I was prescribed a fourth, Zocor to bring down a total cholesterol of 250. I liked food too much!
Nervous after reading the side effects of Zocor, I decided to not take the medication. Simply deciding to start eating better and walking around the block. I’m five foot nine and at the time I weighed a zaftig 212 pounds.
As of November 19, 2010, I’m happy to say that I’m 158 pounds. However, I’m unhappy to report I’m still only five foot nine.
My total cholesterol test in September 2010 now reads 152 without the use of any cholesterol medication.
The secret to my success is quite simple and not unlike my healthiest of clients. I do Pilates twice a week, walk briskly for 45 minutes 3-5 times a week, AND I eat the least calorically dense food choices to always stay full. Easy.
I received my Pilates instructor certification from Pilates Sports Center in Encino, California. I also received my B.S. in Chemistry from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
